Summer 10x10 Final Thoughts
It's already been a week since the summer 10x10 ended and I didn't exactly write posts about my experience throughout the challenge like I had hoped. I barely started days 1,2 &3, posted it unfinished just to see how my layout on the blog would be and I never returned to it.
I got antsy for the challenge to be over towards the end. Day 7, I was pretty over it. But I kept going and actually finished my first 10x10 challenge. It took me a little while to figure out why I was getting so impatient with it. And honestly, I'm still not so sure why it was so tough at the end. Especially since I have continued to wear the same items from my 10x10. I can't stop wearing my Ozma denim pants, even in this heat we have been having. They are a go-to favorite.
ANYWAYS, here are my 10 outfits over 10 days and my thoughts on each one.
I really liked this first outfit. It was comfortable, and pretty much my basic uniform I love wearing - jeans and a tee. But I love the fact that the button down had a little pattern and fun to it.
Would I wear this again? Definitely yes!
I loved this outfit more than I thought I would. It was easy, and perfect for a day of celebrating my boyfriend's mom becoming a citizen. Especially since it was HOT that day.
Would I wear this again? YUP! And I already have a few times.
I love this outfit. It makes me feel like I am wearing a jumper without the pains of wearing a jumpsuit. I also love the fun and play the robe added to the outfit.
Would I wear this again? Yup! And I already have minus the robe. This weather needs to cool down a tad for me to wear the robe again.
I really need to learn to pick appropriate items for the weather. While most of my picks were hot weather appropriate, I was so determined to fit this yellow sweater into my wardrobe. I bought it a couple months ago, and it hasn't seen much daylight. But hello, its been HOT here in SoCal and not sweater weather. I actually really adore this outfit, and I can't wait for the weather to cool a but so I can wear it again and not sweat my ass off.
Would I wear it again? Definitely. But it needs to be a few degrees cooler. (which for me isn't much! I get cold easily.)
I had trouble with this outfit. But only because I really couldn't stand how the shoes looked with the pants. I loved everything else about this outfit except that. I just really didn't like how the pants met the shoes. Is that weird? But you guys were all for it! So maybe I'll give I another shot.
Will I wear it again? Maybe. It is not my first choice, but maybe one day when I'm feeling brave I'll try the pants with the shoes again.
Another outfit I would love if it wasn't so freaking hot outside! I'll be remembering this number for a cooler day come fall.
Will I wear it again? Definitely. But not when it is 90degrees out. Hurry up Fall!
Oh day 7. The day I felt I was being tested in my wardrobe creativity. The day I truly started to feel over this challenge. I hated this outfit. It was an outfit I had thought about wearing at the beginning of the challenge. And I finally wore it... and hated it. Looking back now, it really isn't that bad. I think this was just when I was starting to feel creatively depleted between this challenge and work. And the heat was not helping.
Will I wear this again? Sure, I'll give this outfit another shot.
Yup, I love this outfit. I love how the robe is the statement piece in this outfit, and plays well with the long necklace. I felt good in this outfit, and ready to take on anything. But I do feel like this outfit was kind of cheating. This is something I would put together without the help of the 10x10 challenge.
Will I wear this again? Most definitely. Probably one of my favorite outfits of this challenge. Maybe I'll try it with my ZouXou mules next time!
This is another outfit I love. Maybe I just hit a slump in the middle of the challenge. Because this is something I would wear without the challenge. There is just something about this skirt I can not get enough of.
Will I wear it again? Absolutely.
The last day! And an outfit I had planned from the beginning finally made its way into me actually wearing it. And I adored it. I'm not sure if it would have been something I would've planned without the challenge.
Will I wear it again? Most likely!
Looking back and reflecting on each day's outfits, I actually really like them. In the midst of the challenge, I felt frustrated and over it. But now looking at it and liking all the outfits I wonder if I would have put them together without the challenge. I enjoy trying new outfit formulas and styles anyways. It is something I have always enjoyed.
But if I have one thing I can take away from this challenge, is that I really need things to be weather appropriate. Something I often struggle with. My love for sweaters just doesn't make much sense living in SoCal. I also feel like I cheated a little bit with having so many Ozma pieces since those are meant to play nicely together. I might have felt more creatively challenged if I had picked pieces that aren't meant to go together. Note taken for the next challenge!
What do you guys think? Did you do the 10x10? If so, what did you take away from it? Did you have fun? Or did you get frustrated at the end like me? I'm curious your experiences!
